Structurally it is a 31-residue GLP-1 receptor agonist bearing two engineered backbone substitutions plus a C18 fatty-diacid chain anchored at Lys26; that acylation produces the reversible albumin binding and the prolonged circulating profile characteristic of the molecule. As the selective single-receptor GLP-1 agonist, it serves in the metabolic-research literature as the baseline against which the dual- and tri-agonist incretin peptides are benchmarked.
